Food for thought..

Oh ya.
I have been taking advantage of the cheap foot massages lately and had a story I wanted to tell you about.
So to give you an idea: you walk into a beautiful place with fountains, pretty ladies and all that jazz. You go into a room with easy chairs and they give you a big vat thing to stick your feet in that has rose petals floating in it and smells lovely. They then give you a shoulder/back massage (that i can not stand) while your feet soak and afterwards you get about an hour foot massage. You can just relax, listen to music, watch tv, talk to the masseuses (if you speak Chinese)...
This particular time I was watching TV with Doug. We were hoping for the Daily Show and were flipping channels and got to bbc news. They were reporting on China's president Hu Jintao's visit to London. Showed some key shots of him with the Queen, walking around, fine and dandy. Then the announcer says "And as with all Hu's visits, there were people protesting just outside about China's human rights violations" -cut to the protestors- and the TV went black. No really. Someone is watching (which Phil pointed out, is a good thing).
So the masseuses didn't understand why the TV went black and I couldn't help wondering if they just thought that there was a malfunction with the tv station, or if they knew they weren't allowed to watch ppl protesting against China. And then I couldn't help thinking if my Tv had ever randomly gone blank and if I was being naive.. but then I remembered I live in Canada. The land of the free- right ?

Oh ya, and I got a head massage- fantabulous- while Doug is going "are they digging knuckles into YOUR head?" (wuss) and Chantal and I had our ears candled. No fun. they stick this long stick type thing in your ear and light the other end of it and you sit there til it crackles all the way down. Interesting- but I don't recommend it.

Have a good December!
